Fayetteville, New York is a town located in Onondaga County, approximately 15 miles southeast of Syracuse. The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Fayetteville was first settled in 1794 and was named after the Marquis de Lafayette, a French general who fought in the American Revolutionary War. The town is home to several historic sites, including the Fayetteville Free Library, which was built in 1836 and is the oldest public library in New York State.
