Fatehgarh's history dates back to the 18th century when it was established by the Nawab of Farrukhabad, Ali Mohammed Khan. It played a significant role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and is home to several historical monuments, including the Fatehgarh Fort, built by the Maratha ruler Mahadji Scindia in the late 18th century.
