Farmington Hills is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, United States, with a population of 83,986 as of the 2020 census. The city is located 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Detroit and is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1824 and is named after the town of Farmington, Connecticut. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The city is home to a number of parks and recreation areas, including the Farmington Hills Nature Center and the Heritage Park and Museum.
