Fairmount, Indiana, is a small town located in Grant County, Indiana, United States. It is situated at the intersection of State Road 26 and State Road 124, approximately 10 miles northeast of Marion and 50 miles southwest of Fort Wayne. The town has a population of approximately 2,900 residents and is known for its historic charm, friendly community, and scenic surroundings. Fairmount experiences a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in 1835 by Quaker settlers and was originally known as Quakertown. It was renamed Fairmount in 1854 and incorporated as a town in 1870. Fairmount has a rich history and heritage, with several historic buildings and landmarks located throughout the town.
