Located at an elevation of 1,250 feet (381 m), Fairdale is situated at the intersection of Pennsylvania Route 21 and Pennsylvania Route 188. The climate in Fairdale is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Fairdale was founded in the early 19th century by a group of farmers and loggers. The community was originally known as "Fairview," but the name was changed to "Fairdale" in 1850. Fairdale has a rich history and heritage, and is home to a number of historic buildings and sites.
