Étupes is a commune in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. It is located on the Savoureuse River, about 5 km (3 mi) southwest of Montbéliard. The town has a population of about 3,500 people. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. Étupes has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The town was first mentioned in a document in 1140. It was part of the Duchy of Burgundy from 1366 to 1477, and then part of the French kingdom. Étupes has a number of historical monuments, including the Church of Saint-Martin, which was built in the 12th century.
