Escanaba is a city in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States, situated on the northern shore of Little Bay de Noc. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The average temperature in July is 67.7 °F (19.8 °C), and the average temperature in January is 16.3 °F (-8.7 °C). Escanaba was founded in 1863 as a lumbering town, and it quickly became a major center for the lumber industry. The city's heritage is still evident in its many historic buildings, including the Delta County Historical Museum and the Escanaba Public Library.
