Erdenet, also known as Ehrdehneht, is a city in Orhon, Mongolia, located at 49.0333300 latitude and 104.0833300 longitude. The city has a cold desert climate with long, cold winters and short, warm summers. Erdenet was founded in 1973 as a mining town to exploit the Erdenet copper-molybdenum deposit, one of the largest in the world. The city is home to the Erdenet Mining Corporation, which is a major employer in the region. Erdenet also has a number of cultural and historical sites, including the Erdenet Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the city's history.
