Erdenet, also known as Shine-Ider, is a city in northern Mongolia, located at 48.9487700 latitude and 99.5366500 longitude in the Hövsgöl Province. It has a cold desert climate, with long, cold winters and short, warm summers. Erdenet was founded in 1973 as a mining town, and is now home to one of the largest copper and molybdenum mines in the world. The city also has a rich cultural heritage, with many historical sites and monuments, including the Erdenet Museum and the Erdenet Cultural Center.
