Eminence, Missouri, is a small town located in Shannon County in the southeastern part of the state. It is known for its proximity to the Current River and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Eminence was founded in 1826 and was originally called "Shannonville." The town's name was changed to "Eminence" in 1831 to honor the Battle of New Orleans hero, General Andrew Jackson. Eminence has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic sites, including the Shannon County Museum and the Eminence Depot Museum.
