Elmina, also known as Dena, is a historic town in Ghana, located on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. The town has a tropical savanna climate, with average temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. Elmina has a rich history, having been founded by the Portuguese in 1482 as a trading post. The town was later captured by the Dutch in 1637 and remained under their control until 1872, when it was transferred to the British. Elmina is home to several historical landmarks, including the Elmina Castle, which was built by the Portuguese in 1482 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
