Elmhurst is a city in DuPage County, Illinois, United States, with a population of 45,171. It is located 18 miles (29 km) west of downtown Chicago and 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Naperville. The city was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from New York and New England. Elmhurst is home to Elmhurst College, a private liberal arts college founded in 1871. The city is also home to the Elmhurst Art Museum, which houses a collection of American and European art. Elmhurst has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters.
