El Crucero is a municipality in the Managua department of Nicaragua. It is located at an elevation of 950 meters (3,117 feet) above sea level, on the slopes of the Apoyeque Volcano. The municipality has a population of 19,287 (2020) and an area of 312.7 square kilometers (120.7 square miles). The weather in El Crucero is tropical, with an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). The municipality is home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the El Crucero Church, which was built in the 18th century, and the El Crucero Archaeological Park, which contains pre-Columbian artifacts.
