Eden, North Carolina is a city located in Rockingham County at the crossroads of US Highways 29 and 14. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Eden was founded in 1793 and was originally known as Leaksville. The city was renamed in 1891 after the Garden of Eden. Eden is home to a number of historical sites, including the Leaksville Cotton Mill Village Historic District and the Morehead-Snow House. The city also has a strong cultural heritage, with a number of museums, art galleries, and theaters.
