Ecilda Paullier, also known as Santa Ecilda, is a small city located in the San José Department of Uruguay, approximately 70 kilometers northwest of Montevideo. It has a subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1872 by Ecilda Paullier, the wife of Uruguayan President José Batlle y Ordóñez, and named after her. Ecilda Paullier has a rich cultural heritage, including several historical buildings and monuments, and is known for its traditional Uruguayan cuisine and its annual Ecilda Paullier Festival.
