East Patchogue is a hamlet located in the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is situated on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 55 miles (89 km) east of Manhattan. The hamlet has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. East Patchogue was originally settled by the Native American Patchogue tribe. In the 17th century, the area was colonized by English settlers. The hamlet grew rapidly in the 19th and 20th centuries due to its proximity to New York City and the development of the Long Island Rail Road. Today, East Patchogue is a vibrant community with a diverse population and a rich history.
