Dzhalil', Tatarstan, Russia is a town in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, located at the confluence of the Kama and Idel Rivers. The town has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Dzhalil' was founded in 1957 as a settlement for workers building the Nizhnekamsk Hydroelectric Station and was granted town status in 1961. The town is named after Musa Cälil, a Tatar poet and war hero who was executed by the Nazis during World War II. Dzhalil' is home to several industries, including petrochemicals, machine building, and food processing. The town also has a number of cultural and educational institutions, including a museum, a theater, and a university.
