Durant, Mississippi, is a small town located in Holmes County, approximately 120 miles northeast of Jackson. With a population of around 2,600, it has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Durant's history dates back to the 1830s when it was known as Shiloh. In 1844, the town was renamed Durant after a local landowner, and it officially incorporated in 1870. The town's heritage is primarily based on agriculture, with cotton being a major crop in the area.
