Dünsen is a municipality in the district of Diepholz, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located approximately 5 km northwest of Diepholz, and 40 km northeast of Osnabrück. The municipality has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The first mention of Dünsen was in 1236. The municipality was part of the County of Diepholz until 1585, when it became part of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg. In 1866, Dünsen became part of the Kingdom of Prussia. The municipality has a number of historical buildings, including the St. Vitus Church, which was built in the 13th century.
