Dumbrăveni, Romania, formerly known as Târgu Cucu, is a city in the historical region of Wallachia, located in the southeast of the country, in the Vrancea County. The city has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. Dumbrăveni's history dates back to the 15th century, when it was a market town known as Târgu Cucu. The city was renamed Dumbrăveni in 1965, after the Romanian general and politician Dumitru Dumbrăveanu. Dumbrăveni is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of the Assumption, built in the 18th century, and the Dumbrăveni Palace, built in the 19th century.
