Drexel Hill is a census-designated place in Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located 10 miles (16 km) west of Center City, Philadelphia, and has a population of 28,303 as of the 2010 census. The weather in Drexel Hill is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The area was originally settled by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans, and was later purchased by William Penn in 1682. The town was founded in 1872 by Anthony J. Drexel, a wealthy banker and philanthropist. Drexel Hill is home to a number of historic sites, including the Drexel Hill Playhouse, which was built in 1926 and is one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the United States.
