Dillon, South Carolina is a town located in the Pee Dee region of the state, approximately 25 miles east of Florence. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Dillon was founded in 1888 and named after C.W. Dillon, a railroad official. The town's history is closely tied to the agricultural industry, and its heritage is reflected in its annual Dillon County Watermelon Festival.
