Dierks, Arkansas, is a small town located in Howard County in the southwestern part of the state. It is situated at the crossroads of Highways 278 and 371, approximately 10 miles north of the Oklahoma border. The town experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Dierks was founded in 1899 and named after Henry Dierks, a lumberman who established a sawmill in the area. The town's heritage is closely tied to the timber industry, and it remains a center for lumber production today.
