Dernbach is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Westerwald hills, approximately 10 km east of Neuwied and 20 km northwest of Koblenz. The municipality has a population of around 2,500 and covers an area of 12.2 square kilometers. The average temperature in Dernbach is 9.5 °C and the average annual precipitation is 750 mm. Dernbach was first mentioned in a document in 1247 and was granted town rights in 1335. The town was destroyed by fire in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War and was rebuilt in the following years. Dernbach is home to a number of historical buildings, including the 14th-century St. John's Church and the 17th-century town hall. The town is also known for its annual wine festival, which is held in September.
