Daytona Beach Shores is a city in Volusia County, Florida, United States. It is located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River. The city has a population of 4,348 people and a total area of 2.2 square miles. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. The city was founded in 1923 and was originally named Daytona Shores. It was renamed Daytona Beach Shores in 1961. The city is home to the Daytona International Speedway, which hosts the Daytona 500, one of the most prestigious races in NASCAR.
