Dargun is a municipality in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 22 meters (72 feet) above sea level, and covers an area of 101.86 square kilometers (39.33 square miles). The municipality is home to approximately 4,500 people, and its mayor is Sirko Wellnitz. Dargun is located in the eastern part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, about 25 kilometers (16 miles) east of Neubrandenburg. The municipality is bordered by the Tollensesee lake to the west, and the Müritz National Park to the east. The climate in Dargun is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1.5 degrees Celsius (28.3 degrees Fahrenheit) in January to 18.5 degrees Celsius (65.3 degrees Fahrenheit) in July. The municipality is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Dargun Abbey, which was founded in the 12th century.
