Danville was founded in 1824 by John and Elizabeth Danville. The town was originally known as Danville Station, but the name was changed to Danville in 1836. Danville is home to the Danville Community School Corporation, which operates three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The town also has a public library, a park, and a swimming pool.
