Danville is a town in Morgan County, Alabama, United States, with a population of 4,183 as of 2020. It is located in northern Alabama, approximately 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Decatur and 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Birmingham. The town was founded in 1822 and named after Daniel Coleman, a local landowner. Danville has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town is home to several historic sites, including the Danville Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
