Dāltenganj, also known as Daltonganj, is a city in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is located at an altitude of 442 meters (1,450 feet) and has a tropical savanna climate. The city was founded in 1864 by Colonel Dalton, a British officer who served as the Commissioner of Chotanagpur. It is known for its historical sites, including the Raja Deo Mandir, a 12th-century Hindu temple, and the Daltonganj Fort, a 17th-century fort built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
