The town is located in the western part of the county, bordered by the Genesee River on the north and the Allegheny River on the south. The climate is humid continental, with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. The town was first settled by Europeans in the late 18th century. The town is named after the island of Cuba, which was a Spanish colony at the time.
