Crostau is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, Germany. It is located in the east of Saxony, close to the border with Poland, at an elevation of 200 meters (656 feet). The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C (30°F) in January to 19°C (66°F) in July. Crostau has a rich history, dating back to the 13th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1241. The town was part of the Kingdom of Bohemia from 1319 to 1635, and then part of the Electorate of Saxony until 1806. In 1815, Crostau became part of the Kingdom of Prussia, and in 1871, it became part of the German Empire. After World War II, Crostau became part of East Germany, and in 1990, it became part of the reunified Germany.
