Cornelia, Georgia, is a city in Habersham County with a population of 4,169. It is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately 70 miles northeast of Atlanta. The climate is humid subtropical with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1838 and named after Cornelia Habersham, the daughter of one of the county's founders. Cornelia has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Cornelia Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
