Colonia Mauricio José Troche, Guairá, Paraguay, formerly known as Colonia Cosme, is a city located in the eastern part of Paraguay, approximately 180 kilometers from the capital, Asunción. It has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1893 by Mauricio José Troche, a Paraguayan military officer, and was originally named Colonia Cosme. It was renamed Colonia Mauricio José Troche in his honor in 1912. The city is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional music and dance, and is home to several historical landmarks, including the Church of San Mauricio José Troche and the Plaza de los Héroes.
