Clendenin is a town in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States, with a population of 1,206 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the Elk River, about 10 miles (16 km) east of Charleston. The town was founded in 1835 by John Clendenin and was named after him. The climate in Clendenin is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters.
