Chrysoúpolis, formerly known as Sarí Sabán, is a city in the regional unit of Kavála, in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. It is located on the coast of the Aegean Sea, at the mouth of the Nestos River, and has a population of around 9,000 people. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Chrysoúpolis has a rich history, dating back to the ancient Greek city of Sapaioi. The city was later conquered by the Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans, and was finally liberated in 1912. Today, Chrysoúpolis is a thriving city with a strong economy and a vibrant cultural scene.
