Chinook, Montana is a town in Blaine County, Montana, United States. It is located at the confluence of the Milk River and the Chinook Coulee, at an elevation of 2,241 feet (683 m). The town has a population of 1,203 people as of the 2010 census. Chinook is known for its beautiful scenery, its friendly people, and its rich history. The town was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the Midwest. It was originally called "Blaine" after the county in which it is located. However, the name was changed to "Chinook" in 1893, after the Chinook people who lived in the area. The town is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Blaine County Courthouse, which was built in 1893. Chinook is also home to the Chinook Sugar Factory, which is one of the largest sugar factories in the United States. The town has a humid continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters.
