Chieming is a municipality in the district of Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 500 meters (1,640 ft) above sea level, on the southern shore of Lake Chiemsee. The municipality has a population of approximately 4,800 people. The climate in Chieming is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C (32°F) in January to 20°C (68°F) in July. The municipality has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in a document in 788 AD. In the 13th century, Chieming was granted market rights. The municipality has a number of historical buildings, including the Church of St. Martin, which was built in the 15th century.
