Cheswold is a small town located in Kent County, Delaware, United States. The town is situated along Delaware Route 42, approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of Dover, the state capital. Cheswold has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in the early 1800s and was originally known as "Chesterville". The name was later changed to "Cheswold" in honor of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. Cheswold has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Cheswold Methodist Church and the Cheswold Schoolhouse.
