Chelsea, Maine, is a small town located in the central-southern part of the state, approximately 30 miles northeast of Augusta. The town experiences a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Its history dates back to the early 19th century when it was known as Pownalborough Plantation. The town was officially incorporated in 1850 and named after Chelsea, Massachusetts.
