Chase City is a town in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, United States, with a population of 2,393 as of the 2020 census. The town is located in the Piedmont region of Virginia, approximately 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Richmond and 60 miles (97 km) east of Danville. Chase City has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1888 by the Richmond and Danville Railroad and was named after Samuel Chase, a Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Chase City has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites in the town.
