Chapayevsk, formerly known as Trotsk, is a city in the Samara Oblast, Russia, located on the banks of the Chapayevka River. With a latitude of 52.9771000 and longitude of 49.7086000, it is situated in the southeastern part of the oblast. The city has a continental climate, with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Chapayevsk was founded in 1928 as a military settlement and was named after the legendary Red Army commander Vasily Ivanovich Chapayev. It has a rich military history and is home to several military installations.
