Chaozhou, formerly known as Chao'an, is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, China, located at the eastern end of the province, on the south bank of the Han River, near the South China Sea. It has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Chaozhou has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE). It was a major port and trading center during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and was known for its production of ceramics and tea. Chaozhou is also home to many historical and cultural sites, including the Kaiyuan Temple, the Chaozhou Confucian Temple, and the Chaozhou Folk Museum.
