Channelview, Texas, is a city located in the southeastern corner of Harris County, Texas, United States, at the confluence of the Houston Ship Channel and the San Jacinto River. The city has a population of 38,284 as of the 2020 census. Channelview is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area. The city was founded in 1913 as a company town for the Sinclair Oil Corporation. The city's name is derived from the Houston Ship Channel, which runs through the city. Channelview is home to a number of industrial facilities, including refineries, chemical plants, and petrochemical plants. The city is also home to a number of parks and recreational areas, including the Channelview Community Center and Park, the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, and the Armand Bayou Nature Center.
