Cerro Gordo is a village in Piatt County, Illinois, United States. It is located at 39.8905900 latitude and -88.7281300 longitude. The village is part of the Champaign–Urbana metropolitan area. Cerro Gordo has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. The village was founded in 1835 by John Miller and was originally named Miller's Station. The name was changed to Cerro Gordo in 1854 after the Battle of Cerro Gordo during the Mexican–American War.
