Castillo de Locubín is a municipality in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, Spain. It is located in the Sierra Sur region, in the south-central part of the province. The municipality covers an area of 140.5 km² and has a population of 4,753 inhabitants. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 15.6 °C and the average annual precipitation is 450 mm. The history of Castillo de Locubín dates back to the Roman period, when it was known as Iliturgi. The town was later occupied by the Visigoths and the Moors. In 1240, it was reconquered by the Christians and became part of the Kingdom of Castile. The town's heritage includes the Castillo de Locubín, a medieval castle that is now a national monument.
