Canton, Illinois, is a city located at the confluence of the Spoon and Illinois Rivers, approximately 30 miles southwest of Peoria. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Canton was founded in 1825 and was named after Canton, Ohio. The city is home to several historic buildings, including the Fulton County Courthouse and the Spoon River College campus. Canton is also known for its Spoon River Scenic Drive, which follows the Spoon River through the countryside.
