Canandaigua, New York, is a city located in the Finger Lakes region of western New York State. It is situated on the north shore of Canandaigua Lake, approximately 30 miles southeast of Rochester. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Canandaigua was founded in 1791 by settlers from Massachusetts and Connecticut. It played a significant role in the Underground Railroad during the 19th century and was home to several prominent abolitionists. Today, Canandaigua is a thriving community with a strong economy and a rich cultural heritage.
