Calico Rock is a town in Izard County, Arkansas, United States. It is located on the banks of the White River, approximately 90 miles (140 km) northeast of Little Rock. The town has a population of 1,545 people and is known for its beautiful scenery, outdoor recreation opportunities, and rich history. Calico Rock has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1815 by James Calico, a Cherokee Indian who settled in the area. Calico Rock played an important role in the Civil War, and was the site of a major battle in 1864. The town is home to several historic buildings, including the Calico Rock Museum and the Calico Rock Battlefield State Park.
