Calamandrana, Piedmont, Italy, also known as Calamandran-a, is a comune in the Province of Asti, in the northern Italian region of Piedmont. It is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) southeast of Turin and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Asti. The town has a population of about 1,700 and an area of about 12 square kilometres (5 sq mi). The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cool, wet winters. The average annual temperature is about 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit). The town has a rich history, dating back to the Roman era. It was once a major centre for the production of silk and wool. The town is also home to a number of historical monuments, including the Church of San Lorenzo and the Castle of Calamandrana.
