Buynaksk, also known as Temir-Khan-Shura, is a city in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, located in the northeastern part of the Caucasus Mountains. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Buynaksk was founded in 1834 as a military fortress and became a city in 1866. It is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Khan's Palace, the Great Mosque, and the Museum of Local Lore.
